A car is recommended to fully enjoy the area. There is only one restaurant on-site, it serves only Japanese breakfast and meals. A reservation is needed for dinner. The last bus service from Beppu Station to the resort is around 7pm. After that, you may take a taxi back to the resort, it costs less than 2000 yen. Visas are not required for U.S. citizens if their stay in Japan is for pleasure. A tax of 2040yen is required when departing from Tokyo Narita Airport.
